season 2 characters

This is an updated character listing that reflects developments in Season One of Distilled Spirits as well as newly introduced characters.  If you aren’t familiar with Season One, it is recommended that you leave this page.

Below is a listing of every significant secondary character for Season Two of Distilled Spirits.  The list itself, as well as the brief description that follows, are minor spoilers.

This list is intended for reference.  As the web serial grows–and because the chapters are written one week apart–this page may help keep some things straight.

The character’s first physical appearance is italicized, though they may have been mentioned earlier.

In alphabetical order:

CRAZY MAN JOE (CH. 4 — Glenn):  A now deceased homeless wanderer of New Portsmouth, Joe was a military veteran befriended by GLENN.  Joe left behind a wife and a son (HARRY) who may or may not be his.

DAVID (CH. 23 — Sidney):  A Jewish coworker of SIDNEY’s at the Shinrad Company, David is a game content editor who has been working there for three years.  A transplant from New York, David is also married.

ERI TSUNEMOTO (CH. 7 — Caitlyn):  Working at the New Portsmouth University library while in a post-grad program, Eri lived and painted alongside CAITLYN while they were undergrads.  She has recently been in a casual relationship with SIDNEY that may have ended.

LAURA ROBINSON and her son, JAMES: (CH. 13 — Sidney): James is a student that SIDNEY used to tutor.  His mother, Laura (divorced), gave SIDNEY freelance consulting work and set up the job interview for his current employment.

MOLLY (CH. 8 — Glenn):  Molly is a mid-20s volunteer at the same South Harbor soup kitchen that GLENN sometimes works at.  She is also helping GLENN renovate his building.  It is revealed that she is also a lesbian.

GENO’S DAD / MR. ROARK (CH. 18 — Geno)  A practicing lawyer, Geno’s dad often shows up unannounced and looks for any excuse to not work or be home with his wife.

NURSE BLANKS, Drew (CH. 3 — Caitlyn):   A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), Drew works at St. Anthony’s Hospital in South Harbor and has a morphine habit.  He met CAITLYN under dubious circumstances and they dated for nearly a year before separating.

PETER (CH. 6 — Geno):  A job contractor, Peter has helped GENO and SCARLETT find part-time work.  He has tendency to pit his clients against each other.

SAM (CH. 22 — Caitlyn): A bartender at The Crane Wife near the NPTU campus, Sam has been a part of the local community for over a decade and knows most everyone.  She enjoys playing matchmaker and has some of CAITLYN’s paintings for sale on the wall.

SARA POWERS and VALLERIE (VAL) HART (no appearance): The two other artists, along with friends CAITLYN and ERI, to publish the Feminist art book ‘Paint the Patriarchy’ while in university.  The four of them once shared an apartment sometimes referred to as the ‘Feminazi Compound’.  The four have drifted apart, and VALLERIE no longer lives in New Portsmouth.

SCARLETT  (CH. 9 — Sidney):  Scarlett failed out of law school and had been unable to succeed in anything she deemed important–not for lack of trying–until she was accepted into the NPTU music program.  Currently in an official relationship with GENO, she has a similarly large collection of varied skills.  Unlike GENO, she enjoys the work and doesn’t see it as simply a means to an end.
